The STYLE team had the amazing opportunity to visit Bar Sybanne, a contemporary Mediterranean bar and restaurant in Toronto’s Ossington hamlet. Bar Sybanne creates a memorable experience for you and yours – with amazing handcrafted drinks, delicious shareable plates, and unique flavours derived from all over the Mediterranean.
We were able to select where we wanted to be seated when making our reservations courtesy of Tablz’s virtual dining room. This feature was unique and unlike any previous bookings we had made; it allowed us to scan the room and plan our entire night ahead of time, which greatly enhanced our overall dining experience because, in addition to your meals and service, where you sit can change the vibe and atmosphere of your entire visit.
The service at Bar Sybanne is an adventure in and of itself. The personnel on site is highly trained and knowledgeable about the industry and the restaurant; they aren’t only there to serve the food; they also add and create a unique sense of hospitality and ambiance. The service here has had a positive impact on our experience, making us feel welcomed and confident in our choices throughout the night. Bar Sybanne believes in paying their employees a fair wage (in addition to tips) because they have dedicated their lives to serving others and should be treated accordingly. This is a movement we can get behind, and one we hope to see more of in restaurants throughout the city.
As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with neon lights, which immediately created a fun tone for the evening. Everyone inside was kind and professional, making our stay 10 times more enjoyable. With various unique throw pillows, one-of-a-kind light fixtures, and plates that were each unique and derived from separate sets, the restaurant felt more personal and as if each plate had its own unique narrative.
Nothing tops off a restaurant’s experience like adding outstanding service to the mix, and Bar Sybanne delivered just that. The service was fantastic, and everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu that we had no reservations about ordering because we automatically trusted our servers’ recommendations, and let me tell you, we enjoyed everything we ate and drank that night!
We were hungry and ready to dine when we arrived at Bar Sybanne! Every single dish that was served to our table exceeded our wildest hopes; there wasn’t a single thing we sampled that didn’t make us exclaim, “This is incredible!” The ‘Fried Brussel Leaves’ and the ‘Burgundy Truffle Cacio E Pepe,’ both of which were beautifully presented and served with freshly shaved truffles directly at our table, were our favourites!
Despite the fact that every drink on the menu seemed amazing, we decided to sample the ‘Refrescant’ and ‘The Sybanne,’ which are both handcrafted and prepared directly opposite our table at the bar. The drinks weren’t just tasty; they were also visually stunning and presented in ways that you don’t see very often in restaurants nowadays. The time and work that went into creating these cocktails added to the pleasure of tasting them. We’ll definitely have to return to sample some of the other beverages on the menu!
